Amaris on their process: In oil paint, I create abstract portraits, genre, and landscape which heavily rely on primary and muddy muted colors, stroke, and remnants or references to the many layers of the medium. My work relies heavily on gesture as the work is usually in some kind of classical pose or composition. In doing so I aim to create a familiarity with the viewer through classical elements of painting while presenting a different tone than from what the element suggests. My work intends to insinuate emotion and in common body language reaches out to the viewer and asks to be seen.
